Laura got an early preview on human skin microbiome research, when we used her as human subject number #1 for pilot studies to hone the pipeline for sequencing of human skin bacteria in the BCMM microbial genomics core. Laura's thesis use will make use of these protocols in a preterm infant cohort and so she was willing to (literally) put some skin in the game.
