Fall Retreats

September was filled with fun events OUTSIDE the lab including the ImmunoX-UCB retreat at Asilomar, a lab offsite at Fitz Place, happy hours etc! Such a great way for our recently expanded group to get to know each other and grow as a team.

Geil's thesis work on the gut-skin immune axis in colitis was published last month in Cell Reports and featured this month as a UCSF news story. Congrats Geil!

In late 2021, was wondering why I said yes to so many review article invites. Fortunately, surrounded by outstanding young scientists to help co-author. This one was led by Laura and appeared in the Cell Host Microbe's 15 year anniversary article.

Skin-gut review article

The skin and gut are similar but distinct barrier tissues rich in immune mechanisms. Had a lot of fun writing this with Tamia Harris-Tryon, with key input from our Gut-Skin expert and lab graduate Dr. Geil Merana.
